ISLAMABAD, Oct 9: The district returning officer (DRO) warned on Wednesday that if any one tried to disrupt the polling, he would be convicted right at the polling station.

He was presiding over a meeting of the returning and assistant returning officers to evaluate the arrangements.

Official sources said the meeting was held at the control room, which was established to monitor the elections in all the polling stations of the two constituencies on Wednesday. “All the presiding officers would be enjoying the powers of the judicial magistrate.”

The district returning officer said all the presiding officers must not hesitate to exercise these powers in case of eventuality.

He expressed satisfaction over the reports that all the candidates would have their polling agents at all the polling stations and that they had already been trained by master trainers engaged by the UNDP.

He directed the administration to extend full co-operation to the foreign election observers and allow them to visit every polling station or place which they wanted.

Earlier, the co-ordination secretary of the Islamabad administration briefed the meeting about the facilities to be provided to some 2,000 election personnel.
