PESHAWAR, March 3: Three persons sustained minor injuries when suspected militants blew up a tanker, supplying oil to Nato forces in Afghanistan, near Karkhano Market in the limits of Hayatabad police station on Thursday.

An official of Hayatabad police station said that suspected militants had fixed a magnet bomb at the tanker and detonated it when the vehicle reached near the busy Karkhano Market.

Aruj Shirazi, the spokesperson for Rescue 1122, said that three persons sustained burn injuries in the incident. He said that the injured were shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex.

The injured were identified as Mohammad Qasim, Shamsuddin and Shamsur Rehman. They were in stable condition, Shirazi added.

He said that firefighters of Peshawar Development Authority and City Fire Brigade saved the nearby markets, however, 37 wooden cabins and two electricity transformers were partially damaged. He said that the fire was extinguished within two hours.
