KARACHI: The Karachi Transport Ittehad (KTI) has called for a strike against the hike in the prices of petroleum products, from Thursday for an indefinite period.

The transporters have appealed to observe the strike across the Sindh province to protest the government’s decision to increase the prices of petroleum products.

Transporters said the recent raise in prices is an injustice to the nation and that the hike is creating massive problems for transporters.

Various political parties have also announced to observe the transport strike.

National Transport Ittehad also announced to back up the KTI’s call for strike. Besides, Karachi Goods Carriers Association and Sindh Goods Carriers also declared to join hands to make the strike a success.

Goods Carriers’ transporters said they will not ply their vehicles including trucks and trailers to transport goods from Karachi to the upcountry.
