Assessee for total audit

ISLAMABAD, Oct 9: Federal Tax Ombudsman Justice Saleem Akhtar has upheld the decision of the Regional Commissioner Income Tax, Eastern Region (RCIT), Lahore, for selecating an assessee for total audit.

According to an official announcement, the assessee Delux Dyeing Industries, Kot Lakhpat, Lahore, has alleged in the complaint on the part of the RCIT for arbitrarily setting apart the return filed by the complainant under self-assessment scheme for total audit by invoking para 9(a)(ii) of CBR Circular No 4 of 2001.

The FTO, in his short order, observed that the selection of return for audit, therefore, was justified. No maladministration was found in the ultimate decision as such the investigation was closed, he said.
