PPP leader vows to sweep polls

Published October 9, 2002

ISLAMABAD, Oct 8: The general-secretary of the women wing of People’s Party Parliamentarians, Punjab, Nargis Awan, has claimed that her party would form governments in all the provinces, if the polls are held in fair and transparent manner.

Ms Awan, who is contesting on a reserved seats for National Assembly, criticized the alleged interference by the Punjab governor and chief secretary in the election process. She lamented that the government, on one hand, spoke for women rights, but, on the other, it was creating hurdles in the return Benzair Bhutto to the country. The people should be allowed to decided which political leader of party they like or dislike.
