QUETTA, Feb 22: Seven people, including four security personnel, were injured in explosions here and in Gwadar on Tuesday.

Sources said a bomb had been attached to a motorcycle and parked by the Fish Harbour road in Gwadar, which went off when a vehicle of Frontier Corps passed by. As a result of the explosion, four FC personnel were injured.

“The bomb was planted in a motorcycle that was detonated through a remote control,” a senior police officer told Dawn, adding that a hotel was damaged and windowpanes of many nearby houses and shops were smashed.

“The explosion was so powerful that it rocked the entire port town,” Abdul Ghaffar, a resident of Gwadar, told Dawn by telephone.

Meanwhile, three children were injured in a blast in the Sariab area, a locality on the outskirts of Quetta. Police said the explosion took place in a house where children were playing. However, the owner of the house said a UPS battery blew up.
