LAKKI MARWAT, Feb 10: Police claimed to have foiled a terror bid and seized explosives and a cache of weapons from a house in Lakki city late on Wednesday night.

An official source said on Thursday that heavy contingent of police backed by personnel of Elite Force and Anti-Terror Squad, on a tip off, raided a house of an alleged militant Zahid in Mohallah Faqeeran of Lakki city.

“Police personnel recovered 4kg explosives, 12 detonators, an indigenously made time bomb, 2 silencer fitted pistols with an additional silencer, 2 shotguns, a motorbike and 12 CDs containing Jihadi literature from the house,” the source said.

He said the explosive material was dumped in the house apparently for carrying out a subversive act in the area. “It is a great success on part of police as a massive terror bid has been averted,” he claimed, saying that police had registered a case under relevant section of law and started investigation.

The source said that no arrest was made immediately, however, a hunt was launched to arrest the alleged militant Zahid and his accomplices.

Meanwhile, police arrested five proclaimed absconders in separate actions and recovered illicit weapons and contrabands from their possession.

“The arrested outlaws included Irfan, Nazargul, Asghar, Gul Marjan and Shaukatullah,” the source maintained.

MAN KILLED: A man was killed over an old enmity in Kattakhel village in the jurisdiction of Lakki Marwat police station, said police on Thursday.
