SUKKUR, Feb 9: Police recovered a hostage, a resident of Islamabad, and two suspected kidnappers after a raid on Qasim Gadani village near Khanpur Mahar in Ghotki district on Tuesday.

According to police, the kidnappers ensnared their victim, Nobel Jehangir, through cell phone.

They chatted with him impersonating as a woman and invited him to visit Khanpur Mahar. As soon as he reached there three days ago they took him as hostage, police said.

Police arrested two suspected kidnappers Sohbat Gadani and Khamiso Gadani and recovered a shotgun from their possession.

Police have booked Khamiso, Sohbat, Gul Bahar, Nazar Ali alias Guloo, all Gadani by caste, and two unidentified men on charges of kidnapping Nobel Jehangir.

The case was registered by the SHO of Khanpur Mahar police station on behalf of the state.

In another incident, police arrested three accused after an encounter at Mirpur Buriro bypass in Jacobabad district on Wednesday and recovered arms and ammunition, a stolen car and a pick-up from their possession.

Mirpur Buriro SHO Ali Mohammad Odho said that four criminals who were riding a stolen car were escaping away after snatching a pick-up when a police party signaled them to stop at the bypass near Thull but they tired to speed away.

Police chased the vehicles and the accused opened fire on police van to stop them. Police retaliated and after an encounter managed to arrest three of them while one escaped, he said.

The accused were identified as Iqbal Ahmed Malik, Shah Nawaz Bijarani and Dilbar Buriro. Police recovered three TT pistols, a shotgun and a sizeable quantity of ammunition, the car and the pick-up from their possession, said the SHO.
