KARACHI, Oct 6: Provincial Health and Population Welfare Minister Maj-Gen Ahsan Ahmad (R) has said that doctors promoted to the specialist cadre will be posted in taluka and district headquarter hospitals’.

According to an official handout issued on Sunday, he stated this while presiding over a meeting of his department here on Saturday. The meeting was convened to review the service structure of specialist cadre doctors.

It was the third and last meeting for finalizing the service structure of specialists cadre. Earlier, the Director General Health, Dr Fateh Mohammad, briefed the meeting on the proposed structure. The minister approved the service structure and directed to send a summary for approval to the governor at the earliest so that outstanding demands of senior doctors could be fulfilled.

After the promotion of senior doctors to the specialist cadre, it will be possible for the department to appoint an adequate number of specialists in taluka and district headquarter hospitals’ as it would be compulsory for all to be promoted from Grade 18 to Grade 20.

HOUSE JOBBERS: Ahsan Ahmad has directed the health department to collect information about the emoluments being paid to doctors in other provinces during house job, so that a similar package could be offered in Sindh.

Taking a serious notice of news about the proposed strike call by house jobbers, he advised doctors not to resort to such tactics, as it would be against their interests and they should not play in to the hands of those elements who wanted to open a front against the government.

He said their emoluments will be increased to bring them at par with the doctors performing house jobs in other provinces, for which he had directed the assistant secretary health to collect the necessary information. Ahsan assured the doctors that the work initiated in this regard will bear fruit within few weeks.—APP
