`Robber` shot dead

FAISALABAD, Feb 5: Batala Colony police claim to have killed a robber in an encounter early on Saturday.

The police said two armed men snatched a motorcycle from Zahid at about 4am near Tali Chowk, Warispura, and escaped. On information, a police party led by Batala Colony SHO sub-inspector Ahmad Munil, rushed to the spot and intercepted the fleeing robbers at Niamoana.

In an exchange of fire, one of the robbers, identified as Yasir Salman of Allama Iqbal Colony, was killed. His accomplice managed to escape taking an advantage of darkness.

The police registered a case against the alleged robbers and shifted the body to Allied Hospital. — Staff Correspondent
