Fazl warns govt against rigging

SUKKUR, Oct 5: Maulana Fazlur Rehman, General Secretary, Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, said that Oct 10 would prove a day of revolutionary change for the whole country and declared that the present regime would be held responsible if there was rigging in the elections.

He was talking to Maulana Asad Thanvi and Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro, MMA General secretary, Sindh chapter, at Rohri, on Friday night.

In a press release, issued in Sukkur, he directed the workers of the MMA to speed up their work for the success of MMA candidates.

He said the Muslims of Sindh, whether they were Mohajirs or Sindhis, had made great sacrifices for Islam and the people of Sindh would not be fooled by the people who had vested interests.

He said that the MMA had infused the true spirit of Islam in the people of Sindh who would vote for the MMA candidates.

Meanwhile, MMA candidate for NA-198 (Sukkur), Maulana Asad Thanvi, has appealed to the chief election commissioner, to take notice of the threats by the PPP candidate, Syed Khurshid Shah, to a coucillor Abdul Hakim Mirani and the people of Chachar tribe of Sukkur, because of their support for the MMA candidate.

In a press statement, he alleged that Mr Shah was using abusive language in his campaign and was threatening the people for supporting the MMA.

He said Mr Shah had become furious because the people had organised a public meeting in Mirani Goth for the MMA candidates. He said this was a gross violation of the election code of conduct.
