TOBA TEK SINGH, Feb 3: At least 20 college students were injured when the police baton-charged and tear-gassed them during a protest in Kamalia on Thursday.

Some students of Kamalia's Government Commerce College staged a protest on the main road after they were suspended from the college for their absence from classes.

Later, police chased some students who were fleeing the protest scene, caught them on Kamalia-Chichawatni road outside the Government Premsati Degree College and beat them up.

Some students of the Premsati Degree College also got involved in the clash and they pelted police with stones. In retaliation, police used batons and teargas against students of both colleges.

As a result, about 20 students, including Shahbaz, Wajid, Adeel, Ibrar, Nawaz, Imran, Javed, Ahmad Raza, Sajid, Khalid and Sultan, were injured. Policemen Yasir Ali and Muhammad Saqib were also injured.

The students continued protest with intervals for at least three hours.

Teachers' representative Prof Qutbul Haq said police used batons and teargas inside and outside the college and also tortured a college guard. He called for suspension of City police SHO Muhammad Ilyas. HOUSE ATTACKED:

Three rooms of a house caved in when unidentified men threw explosives in the house of Muhammad Jamil in Chak 182-GB, Chappianwali on Wednesday night.
