DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jan 31: Unidentified persons gunned down a police official here on Sunday night.

Sources said that Assistant Sub-Inspector Nasir was performing duty as in-charge of Crime Investigation Department of police in the city.

They said that the assailants opening firing on ASI Nasir near old fruit and vegetable market when he was going to a traffic police post in his private vehicle on Sunday evening.

He suffered critical injuries in the attack. He was taken to district headquarters hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Hospital sources said a bullet hit his head that caused his death.

Meanwhile, a man was killed over a family dispute in the jurisdiction of Prova police station.

Police said that Mohammad Amir opened firing on Allah Nawaz and Mohammad Nawaz. As a result Mohammad Nawaz was killed on the spot while Allah Nawaz escaped unhurt.

The reason behind the incident was stated to be family dispute.
