Work on PA hall expansion complete

Published October 5, 2002

LAHORE, Oct 4: Expansion of the Punjab Assembly (PA) hall has been completed without any change in the building’s original architecture, which can now accommodate 371 MPAs rather than 270.

Punjab Assembly secretary Dr Abul Hasan Najmi told this agency on Friday that final touches were being given to the woodwork and the newly-installed microphone system in the hall. The governor would be invited to inspect the changes before the general election, he added.

He said the Punjab Building Department had spent approximately Rs18.1 million on the project.

While 270 members will be seated in the main hall of the assembly, adjustments have been made for the remaining to occupy seats in the visitors’ gallery, which now forms a part of the hall.—APP
