RAWALPINDI, Jan 27: An army officer's son was kidnapped in the Civil Lines police area, the police said on Thursday.

Osama Sajjad, 16, son of Lt-Col Mohammad Sajjad, a resident of Tulsa Road, left his house in his car for a nearby market on Tuesday night but did not return.

His parents started a search during which they found his white car abandoned at Tulsa Chowk with its headlights switched on.

The father of the abducted boy said in his complaint that his son was keeping his cellphone with him when he left the house. However, since he was abducted, the cellphone remained switched off.

Later, the parents of the missing boy received a telephone call from the kidnappers informing them the boy was in their custody. However, the kidnappers did not demand any ransom.

SP Rana Shahid, who is investigating the case, confirmed that the army officer's son had been kidnapped from outside his house as his parents had received a telephone call made by the culprits.

Meanwhile, two children kidnapped from Sadiqabad for Rs6 million ransom were released after the arrest of one of the 'kidnappers' who turned out to be the father of one of the victims.

Wahaj, 4, son of Asim Mehmood, and Hussain Shah, 5, son of Ijaz Shah, were kidnapped by three masked men who broke into their house on Tuesday night.
