LAHORE, Jan 23: Deputy administrator of Jamia Ashrafia, a renowned seminary of Deobandi school of thought, Maulana Abdur Rehman Ashrafi was laid the rest in the Shah Jamal graveyard here on Sunday.

Suffering from heart problem, he had been hospitalized for the last several months. A large number of people belonging to various schools of thought and walks of life attended Maulana Ashrafi’s funeral prayers.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif phoned Maulana Fazal Rahim, the brother of Maulana Ashrafi, to condole the demise of the scholar.

The CM said the late was a religious scholar of the highest calibre. A delegation of Jamaatud Dawa led by Maulana Amir Hamza also attended the funeral.
