LAHORE, Jan 20: Four-goal Arsalan Najeeb and one and half goal handicap propelled Hattaf to overcome a challenge from PSS International to win by a close margin of 7 ½-6 in the Caanchi & Lugari Pakistan Polo Cup 2011 here on Thursday.

The winners led the first chukker with a slim margin of just half goal as Saqib had pumped in back-to-back, converting 30 yards penalty hits. Arsalan fired his first to make the score 2 ½-2.

Hattaf launched a severe attack in the second chukker, adding three more goals, two through Arsalan and one from Omar Asjad Malhi as Saqib could add just one as the winners had established a convincing 5 ½-3 lead at the end of the chukker.

Adding one goal each in the third chukker, the winners remained in front with 6 ½-4 lead, but the fourth chukker saw a fierce attack from the losers, who had added two goals quickly through Saqib to whittle the lead to just half goal (6 ½-6), before Hassan Ali Furrkh produced a goal for Hattaf to avert any upset. —Sports Reporter

Earlier, four-goal Haseeb Minhas enabled Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to crush Frontier Scouts with a 8-3 win.
