KARACHI: A Chinese engineer was shot and wounded by unidentified men outside a bank in Karachi on Thursday, police said.

“Around one or two persons shot at the car, in which the Chinese engineer was travelling, after trying to snatch his mobile phone and money,” said police chief Fayyaz Leghari.

Police said there were two Chinese men in the car. The wounded man was taken to a hospital. The other was unharmed.

Rising violence — from targeted killings to drive-by shootings to attacks by militants — have raised questions over the stability of Karachi.

Most foreign companies have their headquarters there.
