KARACHI, Oct 2: Justice Shabbir Ahmed of Sindh High Court, who is also the administrative judge of anti-terrorism courts, on Wednesday remanded Mufti Zubair and Sharib, the two alleged hard-core members of Harakatul Mujahideen Aalmi in judicial custody.

The judge also accepted the interim challan against Mufti Zubair in connection with the suicide bombing case of US Consulate at Karachi and fixed Oct 5 as the next date of hearing.

The case is being heard by Judge ATC-I, Syed Aley Maqbool Rizvi, who is holding the trial inside the Central Prison for security reasons.

Sharib and Mufti Zubair were among the eight suspects arrested in different raids in the city on Sept 18. The police had then also claimed to have recovered a considerable quantity of arms from their possession.—APP
