ISLAMABAD, Oct 2: The Indian government has asked its armed forces to be prepared for all exigencies by the third week of October 2002.

“The services have ordered the formations to finish leave by the first week of October 2002,” says a report appearing in Indian daily The Pioneer

Commenting on the instructions, the daily says that the possibility of an Indian misadventure in Kashmir could not be ruled out in case Indian leadership finds itself inextricably stuck in the quagmire of freedom movement even after the holding of sham elections.

Dilating on India’s renewed escalatory steps, a military analyst said the tone and tenor of the Indian leadership had changed since Vajpayee’s empty-handed return from Washington.

The non-realization of the expected support against Pakistan, has made the Indian leadership perverse and stringent.

Their fulminating outbursts are indicative of their mood to re-escalate tension.—APP
