KARACHI, Oct 2: The Kidney Foundation (KF) and the Pakistan Society of Nephology (PSN) are organizing an international conference and the 5th symposium of excellence in dialysis from October 18 to 20.

According to a press release, the objective of this symposium is to update healthcare professionals about kidney diseases and the latest advances in the field of dialysis.

Chairman and Secretary of the conference, Dr Jaffar Naqvi and Dr Bilal Jamil respectively, highlighted the need of updating knowledge about dialysis, its complications and management.

Dr Naqvi expressed his gratitude to the media which, he said, had done a tremendous job, creating awareness about the problem. He said that family physicians were the backbone of healthcare in our country.

Stressing the need to update the knowledge of family physicians, he said that in a country like Pakistan having financial constraints which one read everyday in the newspapers, it was impossible for our doctors and paramedics to go abroad to acquire new knowledge. He further said that our standard of education had gone down and there were restrictions in the foreign countries on our doctors.

“In view of all these problems, the Kidney Foundation and the Pakistan Society of Nephology have been organizing such symposiums which provide opportunities to family physicians, general physicians, postgraduate students, nephologists and urologists to widen their knowledge.—APP
