KARACHI, Oct 1: Secretary General, Jamaat-i-Islami and Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal candidate from NA-245, Syed Munawar Hassan on Tuesday urged women activists of the alliance’s component religious parties to accelerate the pace of the election campaign and convince ordinary women to overwhelmingly vote for the MMA.

“Women play a pivotal role in (the) success of any campaign, and it is incumbent upon you to tell women that Islam is the only religion which assures protection of human and women’s rights”, he said, while addressing a crowded public meeting at Buffer Zone on Tuesday.

Syed Munawar Hassan lambasted the Muttahida Qaumi Movement leadership for begging for votes from Karachiites, saying that “those, who deserted (the) people of Karachi have no right to ask (the) masses to vote for them”.

He said secret agencies have planned to place “known terrorists once again into power”, and to hand over Karachi once again to the ‘Bhatta and Klashinakov mafia.’

“MMA workers would severely resist rigging on October 10 at every polling both” he announced, adding that they would not allow the King’s Parties’ and government candidates’ to be reimposed on the people.

He said the leadership of religious parties faced the cruelty of dictators in the past, but they never deserted their people for their own sake. — PPI
