ISLAMABAD, Jan 7: Police have arrested two persons for killing their friend after he refused to become part of their criminal plans to make a quick buck.

The alleged killers are the employees of a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) legislator and work at a high-rise in E-11.

Shalimar police have registered kidnapping of Ibrar Hussain, 22, a resident of Pirwadhai, on January 6, on a complaint by his family, saying he was missing since December 26 along with a car - Honda City - of his employer, a businessman.

The family received calls for ransom of Rs1 million for release of Hussain. But the family could only offer kidnappers Rs250,000, which they refused.

After registration of the case, investigators scrutinised the record of the victim’s cellphone, which showed his last appearance in the limits of Shalimar police.

The record also revealed two other cellphone numbers contacting the victim active in the same locality. Police arrested MT and MF, owners of the cellphones, as they confessed to killing Hussain for snatching the car.

During interrogation the alleged killers, friends of the victim, told police that they planned to stage snatching the car of Hussain’s employer. But, according to them, Hussain refused to commit the crime and defraud his employer. He was also cross with his two friends for suggesting the crime.

After his refusal, the two accused planned to murder their friend to snatch the car. They hired a house in Mehrabadi on rent in December, as they made amends with their friend.

On December 26, they invited him to come over to the place, telling him that they have arranged an evening with ‘girls’.

When Hussain reached the house, the two accused again tried to convince him to kidnap his businessman employer for ransom. But Hussain again flatly refused the plan, angrily admonishing his friends.

The refusal made his friends angry as they overpowered and strangulated him with a piece of rope.

The killers bundled the body in the trunk of the car and took it to an under construction house at Iteffaq Town in Dhoke Kashmirian.

They threw the body in the water tank of the house and took the car to Charsadda, and sold it for Rs20,000. Later they started making calls to the victim’s family and demanded Rs1 million in ransom.

On the identification of the accused, police went to the under construction house on January 7, but the body was missing from the tank.

Later it was revealed that the body was fished out from the tank by Golra police on January 3 when some children playing there spotted it. The victim’s family also identified the body.
