PESHAWAR, Sept 30: The members of the district council, Malakand, on Monday threatened to resign en bloc if the posting and transfer orders of teachers cancelled by the NWFP education department were not restored.

The decision was taken at a district council meeting, presided over by its convener Syed Ahmad Ali Shah. District Nazim Mohammad Hamayun Khan also attended the meeting.

The meeting said a group of teachers in the Malakand education department had approached the provincial education authorities and got an order of the district government cancelled.

The councillors expressed anguish and resentment over the cancellation of the transfers that had been ordered on the recommendations of union Nazimeen.

They termed it direct interference in the affairs of the district government, and walked out of the house for five minutes in protest.

They said they would submit their resignations en bloc if they were not allowed to do what they thought was necessary for the district.—Bureau Report
