KARACHI, Sept 30: Sindh Chief Secretary K.B. Rind presided over a meeting of the Anti-Corruption Committee-I here, as the meeting participants disposed of 18 cases of the local government department viz, suggested departmental action on four cases, the opening of an inquiry in one case and in complaint No 11/99 against Imtiaz Ahmed Tahir, then assistant director KMC, land department Orangi Township, Mohammad Sharif, then land surveyor and Mazhar Hussain, then inspector, the members decided the case against all three accused persons. Similarly, in case FIR No 186/99 registered against Mirza Aqeel Ahmed Beg, additional director land, KMC, it was decided to register a case against the accused officer.

In case FIR No 86/2000 against Mohammad Wasim, then head clerk/accountant, general administration branch DMC South, and against Gajjun Baloch, then accounts officer, BPS-17, the members decided to prosecute accused Mohammad Waseem in court, while in the case of Gajjun Baloch, the allegation was dropped.

Six cases of the board of revenue were taken up by the committee members, and in case FIR No GO-4/2000 against Malik Asad Sikandar, then MNA, Kotri, beneficiary, Rasool Bux Abro, then assistant commissioner Kotri, Ghulam Mohammad Memon, Ghulam Nabi Mahesar, Mohammad Usman Mangi, Sabir Husain Shah, then Mukhtiarkar Kotri, Bux Ali, then supervizing Tapedar, Nadeem Mallah, Mohammad Umer Khokhar, then Tapedars and against Shah Mir, Barad Burfat and Rashid Ahmed (private persons), the committee decided that legal opinion should be obtained from the director legal within three days, and the report would be submitted in the next meeting.

In case complaint No 164/98 against Syed Abdullah Shah, former Chief Minister Sindh, Ramesh Udeshi, ex-secretary, board of revenue, Ali Sher Shaikh, ex-secretary, board of revenue, Mohammad Mohsin Haqqani then deputy commissioner Karachi West, Mohammad Shabbir, Abdul Razzak and Shoukat-ul-Islam (private persons) beneficiaries, the members directed to refer the matter to the committee headed by Justice Abdul Rehman Shah (R) for consideration and the senior member board of revenue shall ensure finalization of this case within the period of two months and submit his report to Anti-Corruption Committee No 1.

The members also disposed of two cases of the board of revenue and deferred two.
