CHITRAL, Sept 28: The head of PPP(SB), Ghinwa Bhutto, has said that her party is in favour of greater provincial autonomy and do not favour the strengthening of the centre at the cost of the provinces.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday she said that driving the country out of the financial mess will be the first priority of her party after coming to power as the whole country has been mortgaged to the IMF due to our foreign debt and delicate financial position.
She expressed her concern over the growing poverty and said that the resources of the country, if honestly well-managed, will weed out the menace of poverty from the land. The devolution of power in real terms, she added, will be our next priority while the one introduced by the present regime is a farce and the fate of a common man was not changed for better.
She said that the education will also be given top priority and every district will be authorized to formulate education policy to suit its conditions and environment. Ghinwa Bhutto said that the administration, police and the district government of Chitral should be impartial in the election and demanded that the jawans of Chitral Scouts must be allowed to freely use their right of franchise.
She also demanded of the government to establish industrial estate there to provide jobs to the poor people.
The provincial chief of the party, Sohail Sethi, was also present on the occasion.
