Turkish star pulls out of ITF

ISLAMABAD, Sept 27: Baris Erdudent of Turkey has withdrawn from the ITF Pakistan Junior Tennis Championship I which opens at the Islamabad Club Saturday with the qualifying rounds.

A spokesman for the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) said that Ergudent had informed them of his decision to pull out. In his place Ashiq Tanveer of Lahore, who represented the national under-14s in Sri Lanka, has been brought in.

Shahzad Khan is the top seed for the championship followed by Sri Lankan Harshan Godamane. Kirati Siributwong of Thailand will be the No 3 seed.

Meanwhile in the girls event, Nida Rahim heads the seedings while Maira Naeem Rahim is the No 2 seed. Saba Aziz is seeded No 3.

Players from China, Thailand and Turkey are taking part in the girls tournament which will have no qualifying round.
