Governor’s Games in November

LAHORE, Sept 26: Eight different disciplines have been included in the Punjab Governor’s Games to be held from Nov 2 to 4.

“The POA picked eight disciplines for these games only to gain necessary experience before holding the Punjab Games next year in which all the 34 districts of the province are to participate in 20 games for the first time under the devolution plan”, the POA secretary Khawaja Idrees said Thursday.

Idrees said in the Governor’s Games the competitions in athletics, cycling, football, hockey, karate, table tennis, volleyball and wrestling will be held.

Each respective provincial association of these sports would hold the competitions on knock out basis at the regional level.

He said that like the Governor’s Games the Punjab Games would also be held on the same pattern as the POA had changed their early decision of dividing the Punjab into eight zones instead of divisions.

The disciplines of athletics, badminton, baseball, boxing, bodybuilding, canoeing, cycling, football, gymnastics, hockey, karate, kabaddi, rifle shooting, rowing, squash, swimming, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting and wrestling are included in the Punjab Games.
