PESHAWAR, Sept 26: The students of Government College of Technology here on Thursday staged a protest demonstration against the proposed privatization of vocational training centres and enhancement in promotion fee by the college administration.

The protest rally was organised by the college’s Student Action Council. The students, who were chanting slogans against the college principal and the privatisation of public sector vocational institutions in the province, assembled in large numbers in front of the Peshawar Press Club.

The marchers blocked the city’s Railway Road for traffic which resulted in snarl-ups. Later, they proceeded towards the Governor House to present their memorandum. However, a contingent of police blocked their way and stopped them near telecommunication offices.

The Students Action Council in its memorandum had demanded of the government to withdraw the privatization of technical and vocational training centres and colleges.
