LARKANA, Nov 11: To check the increasing incidents of Karo-kari the district government has evolved a strategy in consultation with police. In this connection this correspondent has learnt on Sunday the Zila Nazim Khursheed Junejo and the district chief of police had an exhausted discussion over the subject.

It was unanimously resolved that instead of registering FIR by the relatives of the victims, the Station House Officer (SHO) of police would now be a complainant in the case of Karo-Kari in the FIR. All the SHO’s throughout the district had been strictly instructed to follow the policy laid down in this context so as to discourage the growing trend of murders on the mere pretext of Karo-kari.

When contacted the Zila Nazim said that complainants of the relatives in the incident of Karo-kari more often deviate from their stand due to a variety of reasons, pressures and threats from the opponents.

But the SHOs after registering FIR on behalf of state would not withdraw from the complaint. By this the Nazim said “we could check the frequency of murders happening under the tag of Karo-Kari.
