KOHAT, Nov 27: Three passengers including a woman were killed when a Lakki Marwat bound coaster was ambushed by unidentified armed men in Akhorwal area of Darra Adam Khel on Saturday.

Officials said that the coaster was carrying passengers from Peshawar to Lakki Marwat when it was attacked with automatic weapons near the Spina Thana in Akhorwal village. Fida Muhammad, a resident of Lakki Marwat, died on the spot while Munir Khan and Ms Zubaida succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

Body recovered

Bullet-riddled body of a tribesman was found in the graveyard of Akhorwal village in Darra Adamkhel on Saturday.

Eyewitnesses said that there were several bullet wounds on the body which was reportedly said to be that of Munir Khan, a resident of Samandi Mela area of Bosti Khel village. He had been kidnapped by the Tariq Afridi group before Eid, sources said. At least 45 bullet-riddled bodies have been recovered from the same area during the last 10 months. Most of them were close relatives of local TTP chief, Tariq Afridi.

Two die on road

Two people were killed and 14 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a van on Indus Highway in Lachi, 20km from here, on Saturday.

The Lachi police said that the van of Utility Stores Corporation was carrying sugar when it was hit by a bus going from Peshawar to Loralai in Balochistan at a sharp turn near the Fauji Foundation Hospital.

The driver and helper of the van died on the spot and their bodies were shifted to the FFH, Lachi. The victims were identified as Lais Khan and Iftikharuddin. The injured were taken to the KDA Divisional Headquarters Hospital. The police are yet to register a case.
