HYDERABAD: Hostage recovered

HYDERABAD, Sept 22: The police have recovered one of the three hostages in Oderolal on Sunday during an encounter with bandits which was continuing till the filing of this report at 9pm.

Jettomal and his relatives, Haresh and Suresh, were kidnapped on Sept 11 in Oderolal by the bandits.

A spokesman for the police on Sunday said the police surrounded a sugarcane field in the jurisdiction of the Umer Sand police station and recovered Jettomal.

He said the two other hostages were still in captivity of the bandits.

SHC: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, here on Friday issued notices to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and University of Sindh on a constitution petition of Professor M. Jamil Bhutta, principal, Bhutta Medical College, Faisalabad, challenging the disaffiliation of the college with the university.

Yousuf Leghari filed the petition, stating that the college applied for affiliation with the university from session 1997-98 upon which it was registered by the university. He added that fresh affiliation was granted to the college after inspection of the college by a team of the university.

All of a sudden, he said, the respondent university withdrew affiliation of the college.
