NEW DELHI, Sept 17: India has lost its conventional military superiority over Pakistan by going nuclear, Indian experts on the subject said on Tuesday.

Former chief of Naval Staff Admiral L Ramdas and US-based nuclear scientist Prof Arjun Makhijani made their remarks in Hyderabad.

United News of India, reporting from their joint press conference, said both had advocated a conventional and nuclear ceasefire plan for the two countries, aimed at greater safety for South Asia in particular and the world at large. “They also criticized the double standards of the US saying its involvement in South Asia was aimed at controlling oil and natural gas and preventing China from becoming an equal power,” UNI said.

Mr Makhijani said during a discussion in New Delhi at the weekend that India was not a major factor in American calculations beyond its marginal utility as a regional check on China.
