RAWALPINDI, Oct 30: A young woman obtained the custody of her 25-day-old daughter from her husband through the court of law here on Saturday.
When Nadia left the court after taking her baby, her husband Mohammad Nasir with the help of his relatives tried to once again snatch the baby from her. As a result, the woman along with her mother had to take shelter in the office of her lawyer. The mother told Additional District and Sessions Judge Tanveer Akbar that Mah Noor had been taken away when she was only three days old.
A sub-inspector of Kotli Sattian police escorted the baby to the court after she was brought by her paternal grandmother at about 4pm.
Earlier, when the court took up the case it was informed that the child could not be brought to the court as she was in a far-off area in the hilly town. On this, the judge directed the police to ensure the presence of the baby as the matter involved her life and health, said Advocate Mohammad Omer Awan, who represented the petitioner.
He said Nasir and his family tried to snatch the child from Nadia when she came out of the court but he along with some other lawyers helped her reach home safely along with her baby.
The counsel told the court that elders of the couple had arranged their marriage but relations between Nasir and his wife strained as she was a graduate and her husband uneducated.
