KARACHI, Sept 14: Five men of the Harkatul Mujahideen Al Almi accused of planning attacks on American fast food outlets in Karachi were produced in an anti-terrorism court on Saturday.

The accused were planning to strike McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants in the city on Wednesday, the first anniversary of the September 11 attacks, police said.

They were produced in an ATC for a remand in police custody.

But the judge refused and sent them to Central Prison Karachi for seven-day remand, prosecutor Habib Ahmed told AFP.

“We asked for a police remand for further investigations, but the judge refused on the grounds that the investigations have been completed...,” he said.
