ISLAMABAD, Sept 13: Political parties have not shown any enthusiasm to buy paid publicity time on the Pakistan television expressing lack of faith in its impartiality and neutrality.

According to a media monitoring report on Elections 2002 released by the Liberal Forum here on Wednesday, the PTV had announced its’ tariffs for paid political publicity.

According to the rates fixed by the Current Affairs Division, for the first phase (till September 15), parties were given an option to buy time at the rate of Rs20,000 per minute. For the second phase (September 16 to 30) the rates have been fixed at Rs30,000 per minute. For the third phase (October 1 to 8) the rate would jump to Rs50,000 per minute.

The telecast time was announced between 2130 hours to 2230 hours with an option of repeat on PTV World on payment of an additional Rs100,000.

The rates for commercial spots (minimum one minute) during prime time (1900 to 2100 hours) were determined at Rs1,32,250.
