QUETTA, Sept 13: The Election Tribunal of Balochistan comprising Mr Justice Amanullah Yasinzai and Mr Justice Fazalur Rehman allowed Mir Shahjahan Khetran to contest election while rejecting the application of SME Bank filed against them, on Friday.

The SME Bank had pleaded that Shahjahan Khetran was a defaulter of the bank and, therefore, his nomination should be rejected.

The tribunal ordered that he could contest election from NA-263 and PB-18 if his cheque, which he had deposited with the bank, was encashed by Sept 18.

The tribunal also rejected an application filed against the acceptance of the nomination papers of Jam Mohmmad Yousaf, President of Pakistan Muslim League (QA), and allowed him to contest election. Usman Lasi of the PPP had filed the application against Jam Yousaf pleading that he was a bank defaulter.

A total of 86 appeals had been filed by various candidates and other people against the rejection and acceptance of nomination papers for national and provincial assemblies from Balochistan.
