LAHORE: Detention extended

LAHORE, Sept 10: The Lahore High Court Review Board on Tuesday extended the detention of 21 Pakistanis arrested from Afghanistan Border till Oct 15 and ordered release of two —- Hafiz Ali Husain Shakir of Bahawalpur and Munir Ahmed of Bahawalpur —- on health grounds.

The detained Pakistanis were brought from Layyah, Bhakkar, Jhang, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur and Mandi Bahauddin jails for production between the LHC Review Board consisting of Mr Justice Tassadaq Hussain Jilani, Mr Justice Raja Muhammad Sabie and Mr Justice Mian Najamuz Zaman.

The detenues had been arrested while crossing into Pakistan from Afghanistan in the last week of June and detained for three months under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance. —Reporter
