RAWALPINDI, Sept 9: The city police and special branch have started searching ‘explosive’ materials/devices and checking important places with the help of sniffer dogs.

A spokesman for the police said the joint exercise would continue till Eidul Fitr to avert any untoward incident.

City Police Officer Fakhar Sultan Raja went into a session with all SPs, DSPs and SHOs of the district to discuss the security strategy.

As part of the security plan, leaves of all police officials have been cancelled and extra personnel deployed around worship places and markets.

People will be allowed to enter Eid prayer places after being checked with metal detectors. Special security arrangements have been put in place for imambargahs and the worship places of Ahmedis.—Staff Reporter
