PESHAWAR, Sept 6: The Pakistan People’s Party (Sherpao) information secretary, Barrister Iftikhar Ahmad, has condemned the car bomb explosion in Kabul and an attempt on the life of President Hamid Karzai in Kandahar.

In a statement, he expressed concern over the killing of over 30 people and injuries to as many as 50 others. It is horrifying that despite the presence of international troops such an ugly incident took place in heavily-guarded city like Kabul, he added.

He said that this had manifested the lingering Pakhtoon and non-Pakhtoon divide in the war-battered country.

He contended that the chain of these events showed that some vested interest were out to eliminate Pakhtoons by putting the blame of every incident on Al-Qaeda.

He said now the Afghan people had identified those elements who were trying to create disturbance in Afghanistan and asked the international coalition to expose the miscreants and take appropriate measures for the eradications of terrorism.

Mr Ahmad said that PPP(S) had been struggling for the rights of Pakhtoons to change their lot.

“The unity amongst Pakhtoons is the need of the hour and we will work for this objective”, he concluded.
