Islamia Club win women’s team title

KARACHI, Sept 5: Islamia Club clinched the All-Karachi inter-club women’s table tennis tournament when they beat Sindh Sports Club 3-2 in the final at Islamia Club Hall Wednesday.

Ghalia Khursheed played pivotal role in her team’s success by winning both the matches. Islamia Club was trailing 1-2 after the first three matches but Ghalia and Beenish Ameer won the last two matches to assure victory.

In the men’s semifinals, Islamia Club beat Sunset Club 3-0 and Sharafabad defeated Hasanabad Club 3-0.

Women’s team final:

Islamia Club beat Sindh Sports Club 3-2 (Beenish Ameer lost to Sobia Ahzaz 10-12, 11-9, 7-11, 7-11; Ghalia Khursheed beat Hina Mahmood 11-8, 12-10, 11-8; Sobia Ahzaz lost to Syeda Mariam 11-9, 11-7, 6-11, 4-11, 9-11; Ghalia Khursheed beat Sobia Ahzaz 8-11, 11-4, 11-7, 11-4; Beenish Ameer beat Hina Mahmood 11-9, 11-5, 9-11, 11-8.

Men’s team semifinals:

Islamia Club beat Sunset Club 3-0 (Adnan Mushtaq beat Faraz Ahsan 11-7, 11-6, 11-5; Asim Aziz beat Ahmer Ali 11-8, 11-7, 11-9; Khurram Aziz beat Mubashir Zafar 11-2, 8-11, 11-6, 11-6).

Sharafabad beat Hasanabad 3-0 (Asif Hussain beat Asim Hussain 8-11, 6-11, 11-6, 11-4, 11-4; Ayaz Leghari beat Imran Jamal 16-14, 11-4, 11-8; Asif Razzak beat Asif Aziz 11-8, 11-3, 8-11, 11-9).—APP
