Hearing of Saleh’s appeal continues

GUJRANWALA, Sept 5: The hearing of an appeal of PPP aspirant Khwaja Saleh against the rejection of his nomination papers for NA-96 continued on Thursday.

The election tribunal comprising Justices Najamuz Zaman and Pervaiz Ahmad adjourned the case till Friday.

The papers of Saleh were rejected when PML-N aspirant Khurram Dastagir Khan, son of ex-MNA Ghulam Dastagir Khan, raised an objection that the PPP aspirant was a bank defaulter. The returning officer sought the bank record and also recorded the statement of bank officers before rejecting his papers.

CAST AWAY: The bail application of a woman involved in the murder of her husband was rejected by a local court here on Thursday.

Sobia developed relations with Munir in Tetley village. Her husband Shabbir admonished her time and again. To get rid of her husband, she offered him poisoned food with the help of her lover.

SHOT DEAD: A girl student was shot dead while another woman was injured when dacoits fired at them on resistance during two dacoity incidents in and around the city on Thursday.

Three dacoits barged into the house of Abdul Latif in Jandiala Baghwala village, held the inmates hostage and started scooping cash, ornaments and valuables. They opened fire when Shagufta Bibi raised an alarm, killing her instantly.

Four dacoits busted into Emina Bibi’s house in Nandipur, held up her hostage and then locked her in a room. They fired at her for raising an alarm, injuring her seriously. Later, they escaped from the scene.

Meanwhile, a youth, Ansar Iqbal of Ghakkhar Town, lost his life after falling from a moving train.

RECOVERED: A bailiff on Thursday recovered four people who were unlawfully detained in the lock-up of Ahmad Nagar by the SHO.

Ahmad Nagar police took four people — Sanaullah, Allah Ditta, Ashfaq, son of Aslam, and Ashfaq, son of Allah Rakha — into custody and confined them in the lock-up. The heirs of victims moved the local court which directed the bailiff to recover them. Later, the judge summoned SHO Javed Tarer who could not satisfy court.

The judge ordered Wazirabad ASP to get registered an FIR against the SHO.
