SANGHAR, Sept 5: The residents of Jhol town have protested against the construction of a shopping centre at Site Soreh Badshah Park.
The decision to construct the centre was taken by Sinjhoro taluka and Jhol union councils.
More than two dozen people, led by councillors, Hayat Hingoro, Rahmat Jalalani, Maula Bux and others, on Wednesday protested in front of the Jhol union council office.
They said the plot was allotted in 1973 by the then deputy commissioner, Imdadullah Unnar, for a library and in 1985, Soreh Badshah Public Park also was made at the plot.
The park has already been encroached upon by the union council and a vegetable and fruit market has also been established at the plot.
DIED: A peasant, Ronjho, died while spraying pesticide in cotton fields near Jhol.
ARRESTED: The Bago Wadadani police raided the house of Karo Thaheem near Shahdadpur and arrested him along with his aged parents.
He is accused in a murder case.
The parents of the accused were released after local political leaders approached the DPO.
Villagers protest: The residents of Dilore Mori village and surrounding areas protested here on Wednesday against the alleged excesses of ASI Raj Mohammad Mari, in charge, Dilore Mori police post and anti-bandits force.
They blocked the Jhol-Tando Adam Road for one hour and burnt tyres.
The ASI had raided Jan Mohammad Kaloi and Dilore Mori villages and shops at Karachi bus stop on Wednesday and arrested eight persons on the charges of harbouring outlaws.
The arrested persons included Akloo Kaloi, Roopo, Dhanyo and Kaghio Bheel.
Later, about one hundred people, led by Gulab Kaloi, Ghazi Khan, and Haji Raheem, blocked the road.
The road was opened when the SHO, Jam Nawaz Ali police station, assured the protesters the arrested persons would be released if found innocent, and some of them were released on the spot.
