Drug smuggling on rise

Published September 6, 2002

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 5: Kuwait in the recent days has witnessed a rise in drug trafficking from Pakistan and authorities have arrested many people after recovering heroin and hashish from their possession.

Smugglers from Pakistan in the recent days started swallowing heroin capsules to smuggle them. Customs authorities here arrested four Pakistanis during the last month and found 4kg of heroin in their stomachs.

Most people arrested on smuggling charges turned out to be Afghans travelling on forged Pakistani passports.
