KARACHI, Sept 4: Three candidates for election to the provincial assembly, including one belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, filed on Wednesday their appeals in the Sindh Election Appellate Tribunal against the rejection of their nomination papers.

The nomination papers of Mohammed Saeed Siddiqui of the Muttahida from PS-113 were rejected by the returning officer as he did not produce his original national identity card.

The others whose nomination papers were rejected are: Amir Abdur Razzak of the Pakistan Freedom Party from PS-90 and Mir Mohammed, an independent candidate for PS-60.

The nomination papers of Razzak were rejected as he was found underage according to his NIC. However, he took pleas that his actual age was 26 and his NIC carried his incorrect age.

The papers of the Mir Mohammed were rejected as he failed to establish his educational qualification. He submitted that he had studied at a madressah and his certificates were equivalent to a university degree.
