KARACHI, Sept 13: World’s leading bankers magazine The Banker, UK, on Wednesday named National Bank of Pakistan as the best bank in Pakistan for the second consecutive year.

According to information reaching here, the magazine has announced the country award 2002 for NBP on the basis of its investment in technology, performance, recent restructuring, comprehensive range of wholesale and retail products.

The Banker, which is a monthly magazine of The Financial Times of UK, had also ranked NBP as the top bank in Pakistan during 2001.

NBP’s regional chief of UK Nausherwan Adil received the award for the bank.

The magazine said that another selection criteria was the positive response on 10 per cent flotation of bank’s shares on the stock market, which demonstrated institutional and popular support for the bank’s approach and prepared the way for further capital raising from the market.—APP
