FAISALABAD, Sept 3: Villagers of Tandlianwala on Tuesday staged a protest rally against the police for its failure to check alarming increase in heinous crimes in their area.
Led by union council Nazimeen Malik Mudassar, Chaudhry Ziaullah and councillors Bakhtawar, Malik Akram and Muhammad Saleem, the protesters marched through various town roads in protest against the inaction by Tandlianwala SHO and other staff.
They also chanted slogans against the police, demanding immediate suspension of SHO Lal Khan.
The demonstrators also threatened to block traffic on main roads in case the police highups failed to take action against the inefficient police personnel. The elected representatives and innocent people were being harassed and disgraced by the SHO in the police station, they alleged.
Meanwhile, Malik Muhammad Tariq has been appointed as D-Type Colony SHO in place of SI Haji Abbas for his failure to control crimes in the area.
Residents on last Sunday blocked the traffic on main roads of Allama Iqbal Colony and observed a strike against police who failed to reach the place of a brutal dacoity on time. The area people had demanded the transfer of the SHO which was accepted by the district police officer.
CRUSHED: A tractor-trolley on Monday night crushed a taxi cab driver and injured two others seriously in Chak 45-GB.
The tractor-trolley hit the stationary taxi cab when its driver lost control over the steering due to high speed. Qurban Ali, Shahid and Farid sustained serious injuries. They were shifted to a nearby hospital where Qurban died. Tarkhani police have registered a case against the absconding driver.
