JI, JUI(F) make seat adjustment

TAMERGARA, Sept 2: The Jamaat-i-Islami and the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F), two main components of the Muttahiha Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), have reconciled their differences on seat adjustment in the Dir district.

The JUI, at a meeting of the MMA’s Dir chapter in Talash on Monday, agreed to award the tickets for the national and provincial assemblies’ seats to the JI-backed candidates in Upper and Lower Dir. JUI leaders said their party would fully support the MMA candidates during the election campaign.

The JI has already fielded its candidates on two National Assembly seats — NA-33 and NA-34 — while its candidates are in the run for seven provincial assembly seats; PF-91, PF-92, PF-93, PF-94, PF-95, PF-96 and PF-97.

JI Chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad is contesting for NA-34 against the PPP (Sherpao) and ANP’s joint candidate, Mohammad Ayub.
