SHIKARPUR, Sept 2: The Pakistan People’s Party, Shikarpur, took out a rally against the rejection of the nominations forms of PPP chairperson Ms Benazir Bhutto on Monday.

The party workers were led by PPP candidate Aftab Shahban Mirani.

The protesters marched through the main roads finally stopping in front of the press club where they staged a demonstration.

They demanded the chief, Election Commission, to accept the nomination forms of Ms Benazir in the larger interest of democracy.

Later, Aftab Shahban Mirani, the district president, PPP, Agha Taimoor Khan, and its general secretary, Naseer Ahmed Lodhi, while talking to newsmen at the press club claimed that the rejection of the nomination forms of Ms Benazir Bhutto was “a pre-planned conspiracy” to keep the PPP out of the elections.

They claimed that the nomination forms were rejected under government pressure, which had jeopardized the holding of free and fair elections.

Our Larkana correspondent adds: A complete strike was observed in Mirokhan on Monday on the call of the Pakistan People’s Party in protest against the rejection of three nomination papers of the party chairperson, Benazir Bhutto, for the National Assembly seats.

The PPP activists took to the streets and burnt tyres at the roundabouts of the town.

In Shahdadkot the PPP activists took out a procession which ended at Kotu Motu Chowk after marching on the main roads of the city.

Meanwhile a procession was also taken out by the PPP in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto, the ancestral village of the Bhutto family.

Our Naushahro Feroze Correspondent adds: The PPP activists on Monday took out a big rally to protest against the rejection of nomination papers of Benazir Bhutto.

Hundreds of other people joined the rally when it reached at the main market after marching on various roads.

When the rally was returning from the bus stop, Tharushah, a heavy contingent of police, led by the Bhiria taluka police officer, baton-charged the protesters, resulting in injuries to Nazir Bhan, Waheed Vistro and Rehman Siyal.

Meanwhile, about 400 PPP activists, many of them bare-footed, took out a rally in Mehrabpur town against the rejection of nomination papers of Benazir.

The rally after marching through Thari Mirwah Road, Halani Road and Shahi Bazaar reached at Hussaini Chowk.

Our Nawabshah correspondent adds: The PPP activists took out a rally against the rejection of the nomination papers of Ms Benazir Bhutto, registration of “false cases” against her, and for her safe return on Monday.

The protesters were led by Imdad Dhamrah.

The rally started from the Dhamrah House and stopped in front of the press club.
