PEC warns EC of fake degrees

ISLAMABAD, Aug 29: Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has urged the Election Commission to take notice of production of fake degrees by some candidates.

In a letter to the chief election commissioner, the PEC said there were reports that fake engineering degrees of various colleges and universities were being produced by intending candidates for the purpose of proving their eligibility for the coming elections.

It said that no degree of engineering was considered genuine unless it was attested/endorsed by the Pakistan Engineering Council and thus such degrees had no value.

The PEC called upon the Election Commission to refer all degrees which were being presented as proof of graduation to it (PEC) for attestation/ endorsement by the council before accepting them as valid and sufficient to make anyone eligible for contesting polls.
